US PRESIDENT’S SELF-PRESENTATION: THEMATIC-IDEOLOGICAL TRENDS OF DONALD TRUMP’S INAUGURAL SPEECH

Abstract

The article deals with the verbal self-presentation of the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, by the example of his inaugural speech, as well as the thematic-ideological trends of his address. The paper considers such key notions as “self-presentation” and “image”. Basing on the results, the author determines the President’s communicative micro-roles within the framework of the self-presentation strategy, as well as linguistic components that help their implementation. The term “micro-role” is used by the author from the point of view of the President’s socio-political macro-role.
