EVOLUTION OF SUB-FRAME SPHERES OF SCENERY CONCEPT COLD WAR (1947-1991)

Abstract

The article presents the results of studying the evolution of a remarkable and voluminous component of the scenery concept COLD WAR - the sub-frame Spheres. The study is based on the cognitive-discursive analysis and has showed that in the diachronic perspective, this component, which did not exist in the concept’s basic scheme (optional component), has undergone considerable evolutional changes, both quantitative and qualitative. It testifies to growing importance of this component and the concept COLD WAR on the whole within the field of the American political discourse. The study can be useful both for scholars-Germanists who study English and specialize in cognitive linguistics and for political scientists engaged in “cold war” problems.
