Novella genre in contemporary Tatar literature (based on the creative work of G. Gilmanov)

Abstract

The research aims to identify the features of the novella genre in contemporary Tatar short prose, using the works of G. Gilmanov as an example. When analyzing the author’s writings, the structure, content, problems and the ideological and aesthetic features specific to this genre are considered. The expressive means that reveal the author’s attitude towards the depicted events and phenomena of the surrounding reality are also identified. The scientific originality of the research lies in determining the poetic features that form the novella genre (structure, themes, compositional techniques, forms of narration, etc.) as exemplified by the works of one of the representatives of contemporary Tatar literature G. Gilmanov. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the element of unexpectedness comes to the forefront in the works. The author’s turn to seldom-used genre forms in Tatar prose (a philosophical novella, a fairytale novella, a parcha (fragment) novella) is identified. The role of symbols, objects, artistic details that perform the compositional, psychological, and culturological functions is also shown.
