The language of modern media in a lexical cultural aspect (based on Russian, French and English media discourse)

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the substantial properties of media language within the context of the lexicultural specifics of perception and the formation of media representations/models of the modern worldview. This objective involves addressing issues including a cross-cultural description of differences in thought patterns, particularly based on Russian-language, French-language, and English-language discourses, in line with the development of theoretical principles of the concept of lexical proactivity, which constitutes the scientific novelty of the study. Elements of scientific novelty also include the described procedure for updating the principles of the grammatical-mentalistic approach within the framework of the multi-level retranslation of lexemes into the ethnocultural realm of cognition and communication, which allows for a constructive rethinking of the terminology of media discourse studies, modern applied linguistics, and progressive translation studies on a new basis. The central concept of the study is built around the understanding of media lexiculture as an active and dynamically developing communication space, based on the principles of vectorial information delivery and focused on the set of psychological, cognitive, and behavioral mechanisms of the individual that shape perception and response to media content. Perception of media content is heterogeneous and is largely determined by the lexicultural context, which influences its interpretation. Audiences from diverse ethnic backgrounds do not react passively to content; on the contrary, they actively engage with it, drawing on their own lexicultural reference points, value systems, and experience. The obtained results allow us to delineate the accessory boundaries of the implementation of psycholinguistic and cognitive-communicative data that extend beyond traditional speech registers, and also open avenues for reconstructing epistemological models of media narrative to bridge perspectives among actors from various schools and areas of proactive humanities.
