LANGUAGE ANTINORM AS AUTHORIAL DEVICE: PROBLEM OF TRANSLABILITY (BY THE EXAMPLE OF RUSSIAN-LANGUAGE AND GERMAN-LANGUAGE VERSIONS OF THE NOVEL “ULYSSES” BY J. JOYCE)

Abstract

The author considers the deviations from language norm as one of major authorial devices used by J. Joyce in the novel “Ulysses”, analyzes deviations at different levels and the possibility of their cross-language translation, in particular into the Russian and German languages, and reveals some inconsistencies in the use of translation due to the structural similarity / distance of source language and target language.
