BIG CITY IN HINDI “NEW POETRY”

Abstract

The article reveals the portrayal peculiarities of the big city as the main scene in the poems of the Hindi “new poets”, such as S. D. Saxenā, R. Sahay, К. Narayan, К. Singh, who related to modernist literary trend that appeared in the Indian literature at the end of the 40s. In connection with the turnabouts, which took place in India during this period, the subject matter of poetic works was also changed – the man’s portrayal in urban environment came to the foreground with new social relations, different from rural ones.
