ON TYPOLOGY OF ADNOMINAL POSSESSIVE CONSTRUCTIONS BY THE MATERIAL OF VASYUGAN KHANTY

Abstract

The article considers canonical adnominal possessive constructions in the Vasyugan dialect of Khanty. The canonical adnominal constructions are the ones with the overtly marked syntactic relation between the possessor and the possessum which compose a single noun phrase. Non-canonical possessive constructions are usually refered to external possession constructions. The research focuses on adnominal possessive constructions which are head-marked. The author conducts the preliminary comparative analysis of morphologically marked and unmarked (juxtaposed) adnominal possessive constructions in the Vasyugan Khanty. The analysis is based on the constructions with the meaning of possession proper and the ones with non-possessive meanings in an attempt to explain the specificity of their distribution.
