TRANSFORMATION OF BIBLICAL PLOT IN THE STORY “JONAH FOR EXAMPLE” (“JONAS ZUM BEISPIEL”) BY UWE JOHNSON

Abstract

The article considers the methods of biblical plot transformation in the story “Jonah For Example” by Uwe Johnson and the features of their interpretation. The article provides a comparative analysis of the story and the biblical text of the Book of Jonah, which allows revealing the transformation of the plot at the semantic and language levels, with the help of which the author highlights the social and existential problems relevant to the society of the ХХ century. The language features of the work intensify the impact on the reader and emphasize the variability of the methods of interpretation.
