Abstract

The article sets a task to reveal and analyze the vocabulary with the meaning of green in the idiolects of the Russian writer M. M. Prishvin and the English writer and naturalist J. Darrell. The author seeks to identify the preferences of the writers in the choice of language units highlighting the denotative, differential or implicit seme of the colour in the lexical meaning of the used words. The researcher concludes that both writers use a wide variety of words with the meaning of green, but J. Darrell’s idiolect has more of them in terms of quantity.
