PRAGMATICS OF THE METAPHOR IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CRITICAL FINE ART DISCOURSE

Abstract

The heterogeneity and incredible axiological relativity of postmodern art are explained by the subjective character of contemporary verbal fine art discourse. The article examines some means of speech effect with the application of a literary metaphor which are used by the authors of a number of critical art texts. The metaphors-intersections of visual images of nonverbal art discourse and literary images of a verbal type of the discourse under examination are of special interest. The reviews of the English language art editions ARTnews, ArtForum, ArtReview and Parkett have become the language material for the development of the article theses.
