ON THE ISSUE OF WORD ORDER IN SCIENTIFIC TEXTS (BY THE MATERIAL OF H. SPENCER’S WORKS)

Abstract

The article considers the types of word order modification as implementation of the informative and communicative functions of the language. H. Spencer’s works are taken as an object of the research. Modifications are coordinated with the theoretical postulates advanced by the scientist, who took into account the features of mental and cognitive activity of a person, as well as his life and educational experience. As a result of the research it is revealed that the use of inversion is determined by different motivation: focusing, establishing and maintaining of logical coherence, semantic division of the text, facilitation of perception and understanding.
