DISTINCTIVE FEATURES AND WAYS OF ANGLICISMS BORROWING IN THE RUSSIAN AND GERMAN LANGUAGES

Abstract

The objective of the article is to examine the characteristics and methods of Anglicisms borrowing discovered during the analysis of the Russian and German press, to investigate general patterns, as well as similarities and differences in the process of their assimilation in both languages. The author touches upon three aspects: the features of word formation at the assimilation of loan words in both languages; the ways of their borrowing - the examples of lexical, semantic and phraseological calques are given. The paper describes the features of the assimilation of borrowed words to original words in the recipient language, characteristic for different parts of speech. The issue of the degree of rootedness of the found loan words in the recipient language is also touched upon.
