Peculiarities of Translating Youth Slang from Spanish into Russian (by the Material of the Modern Spanish Serials)

Abstract

The paper aims to identify the most efficient techniques to translate youth slang from Spanish into Russian. The article focuses on the sociocultural aspect as an essential element of scientific and translation activity. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the authors for the first time analyse techniques to translate the Spanish youth slang by the material of two modern Spanish serials. The subtitled version and dubbed versions served as material for the analysis, authorial translation is proposed. The following conclusions are justified: calque translation and transliteration hinder understanding of the Spanish youth slang, so these lexical units are often translated by means of lexico-grammatical transformations.
