Abstract

The article provides general information on the legal terminology nature, as well as an analysis of the legal documents on migration issues posted on the official website of the European Commission. The aim of the study is to identify the key translation difficulties and to determine the most common ways to overcome them. The scientific novelty consists in identifying the patterns of foreignization and domestication strategies application in the process of creating parallel texts of the documents for use within the European Union. The results of the study have shown that the foreignization strategy was used twice as often as the domestication one due to the high proportion of literal translation used when working with terminology.
