Abstract

The article reflects the results of studying English oral monologue speech (spontaneous and prepared) conducted from the standpoint of linguistic and psycholinguistic approaches by appealing to the principles of generating a speech statement. Within the content analysis, it has been proved that the identified language markers (repetitions, anadiplosis, various categories of questions, etc.) successfully implement the original intention of the authors of the presented speech acts differing in multifunctionality and the ability to represent the speaker’s individual value system. The aim of the study was to identify the lexical and syntactic specificity of English oral monologue speech. The scientific novelty of this study lies in the analysis of the regulation of deep structures in a sounding monologue that is coordinated by language units with qualitative signs of expressing hesitation and intention. As a result, it has been found that the mechanisms of generating spontaneous and prepared monologue statements are reflected in the functioning of specific simple and complex language units (lexical and syntactic), which, in turn, represent the content of speech generation process considering the speaker’s internal motives.
