Strategies of Ambiguity / ed. by Matthias Bauer and Angelika Zirker. N. Y. – L., 2023. 374 p.: Book review

Abstract

The collective monograph ‘Strategies of Ambiguity’ published in English by Routledge Taylor & Francis Group in 2023 was written by the German, Israeli, Swiss, and British scholars and edited by Matthias Bauer and Angelika Zirker from the University of Tübingen, Germany. The aim of the research book is to expand the usual understanding of ambiguity as a ‘necessary evil’ of language system and to represent it as a multidimensional phenomenon that could be used to pursue different communicative ends. The integrated research of the strategies of ambiguous units’ production and perception is based on the interdisciplinary methodology of linguistics, literary studies, psychology, and rhetoric.
